Annike: Hey guys, we were tagged in this by The Book Prophet, a blog that we absolutely adore so make sure before reading this you go and give her blog a visit! I have Instagram but I’m not the biggest fan of it, however I love the look of this tag and can’t wait to get into it so let’s go!
Feed: Many people give a special theme to their Instagram feeds, or none at all. Are most of the books you read of the same genre, or do you like to mix it up?
Annike: Hmm good question. I read a lot more contemporary fiction than anything else and really enjoy most of them. I used to be a huge science fiction fan but have weaned off of that slightly and always find the little fantasy that I read to be amazing books so I guess I don’t really know where my genres are going to go. I almost always read YA though!
Filter: Instagrammers often put filters onto their photos to make them look vibrant and beautiful. Name a book with a stunning cover!
Following: On Instagram, users follow others to see what they post, and basically for a little mash-up of their lives. Name a book character whose steps you always enjoy following.
Followers: Many celebrities have millions of Instagram followers. Name a hyped-up book read by thousands that you were hesitant to read, but ended up devouring.
Definitely An Ember in the Ashes by Saraa Tahir. I know I literally bring this book up in every post but it was just so amazing that I have to haha 🙂
Bio: Instagram bios can be up to 150 characters long, and can be used to give some general information about yourself. Name a book with a catchy blurb that hooked you in.
I’m going to say This is Not a Drill by Beck McDowell. This book was about a shooting that happened in a classroom of kindergarten kids and it sounded like a really interesting fiction story. Even though it didn’t live up to my expectations the blurb definitely reeled me in.
Unfollow: Sometimes you’ll like someone’s feed at first, but then you lose interest and decide to unfollow them. Name a book you liked at first, but over time, the love wore off.
I used to absolutely LOVE Monument 14 by Emmy Laybourne, however as the years have gone by I’m not really sure why I enjoyed it so much – seems like it had quite a few faults as well as the other books in the series.
Notifications: Whether you admit it or not, everyone loves and waits anxiously to see the pink notification button pop up at the bottom of their Instagram feed. Name an unreleased book that you’ve been anxiously awaiting.
I have definitely been anxiously awaiting the new Kasie West book – By Your Side but now that it is out (even though I still need to read it) I’m waiting for her next book already – Lucky in Love! 🙂
Story: Many Instagrammers love using Instagram’s Story feature to let their followers know what they’re currently up to. Name a book you’re currently reading!
I am actually currently reading heaps of books but here they are. Firstly, Being Sloane Jacobs which is going well so far but doesn’t seem like a stand out. The Book Thief which I’m determined to get through but not so keen on reading, The Mysterious Book Society which is a book I’m reading for the 2017 reading challenge as I loved it when I was younger. And finally, A Court of Thorns and Roses which I can tell from the first 50 or so pages that I’m going to really enjoy 🙂
Annike: Thanks for reading guys! If you want to do this tag, let me know and consider yourself tagged! This was a super fun tag to do so thank you so much to The Book Prophet for the opportunity.
